About Us
Welcome to Hutton Sixth Form where we have a long history of excellence and would like you to be part of it.
Our aim at Hutton Sixth Form is to provide our students with a purposeful and challenging experience which strengthens their capacities and interests, develops their character, and gives them the confidence to take the next big step on their life journey.
With a 100% pass rate and 88% of our students achieving at least one high grade (A* - B), our excellent A level results place us as the best performing provider in central Lancashire in terms of the progress our students make with us (2019 validated VA scores).
As well as A levels, all students at Hutton Sixth Form undertake an Extended Project Qualification which can lead to lower university entry requirements and also provides all students with valuable transferable skills that are valued equally by universities and employers.
The vast majority of our students gain a place at their first choice university, with a significant proportion going on to study at elite institutions such as Oxford and Cambridge and we now have a growing number of students each year progressing on to degree apprenticeships. These achievements have already opened doors to a brighter future for thousands of our past students.
We believe that well-supported, happy and fulfilled students, not only perform better in examinations, but are also better served by their school and so we place a great emphasis on supporting you culturally, spiritually and, of course, academically. Ensuring the development of each individual helps to make Hutton Sixth Form so successful. Each person is cared for by our committed form tutors, subject teachers and sixth form mentor. We work to ensure that every student has high ambitions, a commitment to others and an awareness of the deeper issues in life.
Young people thrive in the supportive ethos of our friendly and caring Sixth Form and we were proud that OFSTED agreed in our recent report: ‘Students in the sixth form achieve especially well.’ ‘Leaders design especially ambitious curriculums in the sixth form.’ ‘Students in the sixth form get to cover what they need to know at the time that they need to know it.’ OFSTED report 2022
Through the curriculum, our students engage in rigorous academic study, whilst developing key character traits and skills of independence, resilience, leadership and responsibility.
Should you choose to study with us you will be taught by excellent teachers who are subject specialists and understand the progression from GCSE to A level. We welcome students of all faiths, as well as those of none, who embrace our values and who wish to join us. We want you to reach higher with Hutton Sixth Form and make our Hutton, your Hutton
